Our mission is to become "Your Information Center" for individuals, families, and businesses — to serve as a resource for reliable, easy-to-read-and-understand information that educates, enlightens, and enriches lives. All of our short reports and practical guides are available online at no cost.
Our Writer
Julie Thompson, a native of New York City,studied at the High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan, with Music Performance as her major, and became the first black valedictorian in the school’s history. After a year and a half at Brooklyn College, with two consecutive semesters on the dean’s list, she decided to devote her time and energy to the full time ministry as sponsored by Jehovah’s Witnesses. Two states (Iowa and Nebraska) and two countries (the United States and Ecuador, South America) later, she is currently a volunteer missionary in the Ecuadorian Andes, where she has been for the past thirteen years. While in Iowa she made her acquaintance with the Laotian language and refined her Spanish that had lain dormant since her university days. Her residence in Ecuador has given her the opportunity to learn the Kichwa language, teach Spanish literacy to those who have not had the opportunity to go to school, and teach the Spanish language to new foreign volunteers.
She is also the author of the topic "Living Abroad" on the Web site Suite101.com. Her articles on this topic have included such themes as learning a second language, homesickness, culture shock, and taking care of your health in a foreign country.
Our Editor
Miriam Ruff, Education Project Editor,is a freelance writer/editor with a background in the biological sciences and nearly 20 years of experience writing on a wide variety of topics. Her nonfiction work has appeared in scientific journals, newspapers, and books; in addition she has written and produced several audio dramas and short films and has published three volumes of poetry.

After twenty years in business, Lillie Ammann sold her interior landscape company - one of the largest interior landscape companies and one of the largest woman-owned businesses in the area - to a large national corporation, then she fulfilled her dream of becoming a freelance writer and editor. She has authored two nonfiction books and three novels, edited books for publishers and authors, written business documents, and published newsletters. As the principal owner, manager, and Editor-in-Chief of Your Information Center, Lillie makes use of both her business and editing experience.
Her accomplishments are listed in Who's Who in America. She is an active volunteer for her church and several business and writing organizations. Lillie and her husband have one adult son.
